About MA Mission Blackburn
The 'Mohaddis-e-Azam Mission' stands as a distinguished and globally recognised organisation, bearing the esteemed name of one of the eminent Sufi Scholars and Saints of recent times, Mohaddis-e-Azam Hind (Allama Pir Syed Shah Muhammad Abul Muhamid Ashrafi al-Jilani, born 1894 CE).
Initiated in the latter part of the 20th century by Mohaddis-e-Azam's son and appointed spiritual successor, the eminent and globally renowned Imam-e-Humam 'Huzur Shaykh-ul-Islam' Syed Mohammad Madni Ashrafi al-Jilani, the mission has been blessed by his regular visits to the U.K. since the early 1970s.
The inaugural U.K. branch was established in the North-West town of Blackburn, Lancashire, during the 1990s. Since then, Alhamdulillah, the Mission has flourished, steadily expanding its reach and influence.
“Our goal is to serve humanity.” This noble aspiration is deeply rooted in the mission’s main aim and purpose, which is to educate the community and serve humanity, encapsulated in the Urdu phrase “Kaum ki Khidmat,” meaning “Serving Humanity.”
Named in honor of Mohaddis-e-Azam, a scholar and gnostic who dedicated his life to educating and uplifting people, the Mission continues his legacy. Under the leadership of S M Madani Miya, his son and successor, the Mission has expanded globally, establishing branches worldwide, including seven in the UK, all dedicated to serving their local communities.
At the Mission, various activities take place to enrich the lives of community members:
- Daily Madrassah and Hifz classes nurture children’s knowledge of the Qur’an, Islamic knowledge, ethics and citizenship.
- Congregational prayers, including Friday (Jummah) prayers, provide spiritual guidance and community bonding.
- Regular gatherings feature esteemed guest speakers from around the world, sharing insights on Islam.
- Community events, such as bake sales and charity activities, promote social cohesion and charitable endeavors.
- The community hall is available for weddings, religious gatherings, and social events, fostering community engagement and support.
Through these endeavors, the Mohaddis-e-Azam Mission continues its legacy of education, service, and community empowerment, embodying the values of compassion, knowledge, and unity.
